DeMatha looks to continue its dominace in WCAC

Mike Jones MSHYATTSVILLE - The DeMatha Stags are known for their dominance in sports throughout the state of Maryland and all over the world.   As for basketball, there are four current NBA players that attended DeMatha, including the first overall pick from the 2017 NBA Draft Markelle Fultz. Despite losing remarkable talent every season, DeMatha continues to be one of the best basketball teams in, not only Maryland, but the entire country.  This season, DeMatha’s boys’ basketball varsity team is off to a 7-0 start and look to continue their rule at the top.

76ers select Fultz No.1 overall

Markelle Fultz MSSEABROOK – After graduating from DeMatha Catholic High School in the spring of 2016, Markelle Fultz continued his basketball career at the University of Washington – more than 2,700 miles and 40 hours away from his hometown of Upper Marlboro.

After Thursday night’s NBA Draft, Fultz will begin his professional career a lot closer to home. A short two-hour trip up I-95 to be exact.

Fultz, DeMatha cruise by Good Counsel

Markelle Fultz Photo by Elliott BrownHYATTSVILLE – DeMatha Catholic’s basketball team, the sixth ranked high school team in the nation, opened its regular season with a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) contest against the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons and won in a blowout, 79-37.
