MylesMiree 2LANDOVER – Trailing 14-7 at halftime, DeMatha Head Coach Elijah Brooks challenged his team to step up and defend their home field following a poor showing in the opening half. Last year’s Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champions had committed seven penalties and threw an interception on their final first-half drive.

With all the troubles the Stags faced, their defense rose to the occasion.

Now, with Dupree back for his senior season and Lockwood more comfortable at the helm with a year under his belt, the two say the goals for this high school football season are simple: win the 4A class and break every rushing record imaginable.

A commanding “Yes, Sir” from each player following every statement echoed across the practice field. The team quickly huddled together and chanted “repeat” before dispersing.
