Roosevelt volleyball defeats Northwestern to win regional title

GREENBELT - The top two Prince George’s County volleyball teams, Northwestern and Eleanor Roosevelt, battled in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association 4A playoff bracket last Friday for a chance to become the queens of the county and move on to the state semifinals.

Roosevelt, who dominated opposing teams throughout the season, reminded Northwestern just how good it is by sweeping the Lady Wildcats, 25-9, 25-10, 25-11 on Nov. 10 to win the regional championship.

Booker's saves push Lady Raiders to state semifinals

2 ER PhotoGREENBELT – Jasmine Booker was trained in a manner that most goalkeepers do not experience playing in the United States.

Five years ago, the Eleanor Roosevelt senior spent time in a Central American country when her mother, Carmen, was hired for work the U.S. Embassy. Booker spent time playing with a semi-pro women’s side affiliated with Costa Rican professional team Club Sport Herediano.

Bowie volleyball wins regional title

volleyballOne year after it was swept by High Point High School in the 4A South Region title match, the Bowie High School volleyball team attained a measure of revenge last Friday when the Bulldogs prevailed in five sets over the visiting Eagles, 25-13, 25-13, 21-25, 19-25, 15-11.
