Eleanor Roosevelt defeats Northwestern
Eleanor Roosevelt’s boys’ basketball team defeated Northwestern 62-46 on Friday. The Raiders improved their record to 17-1 to remain at first place in Prince George’s 4A. Tiwian Kendley led Roosevelt in scoring with 19 points. Jesse Ason and Trevor Evans also scored in double-figures in the lopsided victory.
Potomac beats Gwynn Park in overtime
It took more than four quarters to determine the winner between Potomac and Gwynn Park on Friday night. In 3A/2A/1A, the Potomac Wolverines boys’ basketball squad knocked off the Yellow Jackets 58-55 in overtime. Junior forward/guard Dion Wiley led his team in scoring with 18 tallies, and Randall Broddie put 14 points on the board as well.
Eleanor Roosevelt girls remain on top
Eleanor Roosevelt’s girls’ basketball team enjoyed another win against Northwestern on Friday (69-11). The Wildcats were clearly over matched against the undefeated Roosevelt Raiders and only scored two points in the first two quarters of play. Four Raiders scored in double-figures, and held the Wildcats to only 11 points in lopsided 69-11 victory. Roosevelt’s Jazmin Faulkner led the charge with 16 points.
Bowie State wins close game
Bowie State’s mens’ basketball squad took down Elizabeth City State University 70-68 on Saturday. The Vikings were thwarted by the Bulldogs in a game that came down to the wire. Byron Westmorland scored a game-high of 22 points and had eight rebounds in the Bulldogs’ key victory. The Bulldogs now have won their ninth-game of the season and look forward to facing Lincoln University away on Saturday.
