A 25-year-old Prince George’s County man was found dead after he went missing and drowned Saturday while swimming in the Anacostia River in Bladensburg.

The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bladensburg Marina on Annapolis Road.

“Three men who are related to each other were swimming when one of them experienced distress and went under,” said Mark Brady, spokesperson for Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department. “The two other men searched for him but were unable to find him.”

PGFD dive and underwater rescue teams responded along with teams from U.S. Park Police, District of Columbia Fire Department and Metropolitan Police Department, Brady said.

An underwater dive team recovered the man’s body around 4:30 p.m., Prince George’s County Fire Chief Marc Bashoor said.

The family of the man was on the scene when his body was pulled out of the river.
