Get ready for one of the coolest events of the season—the Gaylord National Resort will be hosting the 2010 edition of Gaylord National’s ICE!.

This year, it will present Dr. Seuss’s holiday classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

This  wintertime attraction will open Nov. 18 and continue through Jan. 9.

The attraction will feature memorable scenes from Dr. Seuss’s story carved completely out of ice. There will be a walk-through of the Grinch’s frozen mountain-top lair and the quaint village of Whoville. The famous characters Cindy Lou and Max — the Grinch’s dog — will be sculpted out of ice as well.

This attraction will be an interactive experience as well, featuring 20-feet tall slides made of ice for visitors to enjoy.

It takes two million pounds of ice to create all of the ice sculptures at this event.

The amazing pieces of art that make up this attraction are sculpted by a group of 40 of the best ice sculptor artists.

The process begins in early October. The ice artisans travel to the resort all the way from Harbin, China — known as

the “ice city” because of its renowned outdoor ice sculpture festival.

The Gaylord’s indoor attraction is hosted in a 15,000-square-foot insulated room, specially designed to keep the temperature at the appropriate nine degrees Fahrenheit. Guests are loaned comfortable, oversized coats to wear in order to stay comfortable in the chilly climate.

ICE! Also includes an indoor skating rink, a Mrs. Claus’ Christmas Crafts Corner and a holiday gift shop.

Adult tickets range from $19 - $29, children’s tickets range from $12-$18 and children under 3 years old are free.

There are discounts for military, seniors and groups of 20

or more.
