A University of Maryland student was found dead in her campus dorm room Monday afternoon.
Just after 1 p.m. Monday, University of Maryland Police and Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department paramedics were called to Kent Hall at the University of Maryland for an unresponsive female.
Upon arrival, they found Sarah Hancock, 20, a junior sociology major from Bel Air, in her bathroom with no pulse and not breathing. Paramedics determined that Hancock was deceased.
A campus police press release stated there was no indication of foul play or a suicide attempt. The death appeared to be the result of an accident.
Hancock was a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity open to both men and women, based on the principles of leadership, friendship and service.
The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, an official from University of Maryland Police said.
