Undefeated Wise shuts out Oxon Hill

Wise kept its undefeated streak alive last week, defeating Oxon Hill 47-0. The Pumas are still one of the best looking teams to win it all this season, and they put up 33 points in the first quarter alone. Senior running back Chase Powell ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and a junior defensive back recorded two interceptions in the blowout win. Wise shouldn’t have any problems with the winless Parkdale Panthers, who have yet to find their groove or find success so far this season.

Mofor delivers against Laurel

Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders running back Mike Mofor obliterated the Laurel Spartans’ defense, aiding the Raiders to their 19-point win. Mofor rushed for 136 yards and caught three passes for 40 yards. He has been a consistent back for the Raiders all year — rushing for 493 yards and averaging more than eight yards per carry. Roosevelt will need his efforts throughout the rest of the season if they want a good shot at being in contention for the 4A championship.

Surrattsville falls to Potomac

Two equally matched teams faced off Saturday in Oxon Hill. Potomac finished off Surrattsville in a close contest, 14-12. Surrattsville lost a little of its swagger in a defensive battle, but one player seemed to take over the game despite losing. Senior lineman Jaylen Harris recorded two sacks, four hurries, and three tackles as well as two pancake blocks on offense by the game’s end. It was a tough loss for the Hornets as they fell to 4-2. They will be looking for a chance to redeem themselves against Crossland this Saturday.

Friendly trumps Forestville

Friendly upset Forestville 40-18, and the Patriots were explosive on offense from the beginning to the end. Friendly running back Dajahn Lowery rushed for 130 yards on only three carries for two touchdowns. Senior receiver Brandon Robinson had three catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. The Patriots draw even at 3-3 and hope to keep the success train rolling for another win against the winless Central Falcons.

Bowie State improves record with road win

Bowie State University received a huge win on the road against Chowan University on Saturday, 35-31. This win improves Bowie State’s record to 4-2, and the Bulldogs are making waves in the Northern division. Redshirt sophomore and Suitland alumnus Keith Brown rushed for a career-high 132 yards and two touchdowns. Brown sealed the win with a 57-yard touchdown scamper, leaving only 39 seconds on the clock for Chowan to redeem itself.
