Riverdale Baptist’s baseball team topped McDonogh 12-2 on Saturday. The undefeated Crusaders earned their 11th straight win of the season. Junior outfielder Josh Batal claimed Player of the Game honors for his efforts. Batal went three for four at the plate, scored three runs, had one RBI, and stole three bases to win the championship game of the McDonogh tournament.
Bladensburg baseball beats DuVal
Bladensburg’s baseball team slipped by DuVal 8-7 last Thursday. Sophomore Jakahri Mack made his presence known in the one-point victory with two runs off of three hits. He also batted two RBIs and had seven strikeouts on the mound. The Mustangs won their first game of the season, and they will look to keep the ball rolling against Suitland.
BSU track and field athletes place at Big Dawg
Bowie State University women’s track and field team had a strong showing at the UMBC Big Dawg Invitational on Sunday. Freshman Carissa Smith won the women’s 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.02 seconds. Brian Williams helped lead the men’s team with a third place finish in the triple jump competition (12.18m).

Bowie State University’s women’s bowling team won the CIAA Championship last Monday at AMF Durham Lanes. The Bulldogs have now earned their fourth CIAA Championship crown of all-time under head coach Kenneth Scott.
