Baysox beat Seawolves, 4-2

The Bowie Baysox defeated the Erie Seawolves 4-2 on Aug. 15 at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie. Baysox starting pitcher Ed Rodriguez earned his second win this season, striking out eight batters in five innings. Oliver Drake captured his seventh save of the season.

Mystics topple Liberty, 66-57

The Washington Mystics took down the New York Liberty 66-57 on Friday. Mystics guard Matee Ajavon led all scorers with 16 points. She also dished out seven assists. University of Maryland alumna Crystal Langhorne filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, two steals and six rebounds. 

Bowie State Bulldogs open season on the road

Bowie State University opens its 2013 football season Sept. 7 on the road against St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. The Bulldogs look to earn a victory to set the tone for the rest of the season. Bowie State completed its first full-pads practice on Tuesday.

Terps play for the fans

The University of Maryland held a fan appreciation day at Byrd Stadium on Saturday. The team held a scrimmage for two hours before the players signed autographs for fans. Terps linebacker Yannick Cudjoe-Virgil finished the game with four sacks.
