DuVal breaks Wise’s winning streak
The DuVal football team defeated Wise 14-13 on Friday for a second-straight win this season. Wise was riding on a 15-game winning streak, but the Tigers persevered on the road. Sophomore quarterback Antoine Brooks threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Brooks also rushed133 yards.
Mystics trounce Sun
The Washington Mystics defeated the Connecticut Sun 82-52 at the Verizon Center on Friday. Mystics guard Ivory Latta led all scorers with 19 points, five assists and three rebounds. Mystics rookie guard Taylor Hill scored 16 points. Hill also had two boards and three steals.
Crossland boys’ soccer beats Douglass in rout
Crossland’s boys’ soccer team took down Douglass 8-1 on Sept. 9. Ricardo Garcia scored a goal and dished out three assists. Rodney Ngoh scored two goals to help lead his team to victory in the season opener.
Forestville topples Crossland, 48-6
Forestville’s football team defeated Crossland 48-6 on Sept. 9. Forestville running back Earon Settles rushed for 68 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Marcel Joly rushed 52 yards on six carries and scored two touchdowns.
