Stefanelli began his coaching career in 2001 at the youth level for the Rockville Football League. He took over a disbanded program and rebuilt it into a championship-caliber program that has thrived over the past 15 seasons, capturing multiple league and state championships during his tenure.

“Andy Stefanelli is a proven football coach who is passionate about teaching all aspects of the game,” said Good Counsel Athletic Director Pat Bates. “I am very confident that he will be successful in staying competitive with the top teams in the WCAC, as he has played a big part in the winning tradition of our football program over the past few years.”

Stefanelli takes over a Good Counsel program that went 6-5 last season but captured four consecutive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championships from 2009 to 2012.

“I feel that he’s a great fit for the [head] coaching role,” said junior Tyler Baylor, an outside linebacker and weak-side defensive end. “He’s been around Good Counsel so he knows how everything works and all the players know him so we all feel comfortable around him. I feel that he’ll bring a lot of good things to Good Counsel football.”
