WASHINGTON, D.C. – D.C. United notched a 0-0 draw against the Houston Dynamo on June 18.
Former DeMatha product and star goalkeeper Bill Hamid had four saves. Two of Hamid’s saves were in the danger zone on crosses, but the wily veteran held down the fort for United. D.C. United forward Lamar Neagle accounted for two shots on goal, but also committed four fouls. Nevertheless, United will look to tally a win against the New England Revolution on June 25.
The Washington Mystics defeated the Atlanta Dream 95-65 on June 18. Mystics guard Tayler Hill led all scorers with 15 points. Hill also accounted for two steals, one rebound and an assist. Forward Emma Meesseman scored 14 points and pulled down four rebounds to help lead her team to victory. The Mystics will go on to face the Indiana Fever on June 22.
The Bowie Baysox took down the Erie Seawolves 9-4 on Father’s Day. Bowie pitcher Bobby Bundy (2-0) earned the win while tallying three strikeouts. Baysox outfielder Tucker Nathans had a stellar performance offensively, as he collected four hits, two RBI and scored a run. Bowie will gear up to take on the Trenton Thunder on June 22.
The Chesapeake Bayhawks recently traded Matt Mackrides and a 2017 First-Round pick to the Atlanta Blaze in exchange for Myles Jones. The Bayhawks will also receive a 2017 Second Round Draft Pick. Mackrides was a key competent to the Bayhawks’ success for four years which included two Major League Lacrosse Championships. Meanwhile, Myles was the first-overall pick in the 2016 draft and looks to make an instant impact once he suits up for Chesapeake.
